In Russia, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.81% in February, and the Central Bank raised its inflation forecast for 2025.

According to data released by Russia's statistics agency on Wednesday, the consumer price index (CPI) in the country rose by 0.81% in February. This increase follows a 1.23% rise in the previous month and aligns with analysts' expectations of a 0.8% monthly increase.

The annual inflation rate also climbed from 9.92% in January to 10.06%. This figure is in line with analysts' projections of a 10.1% annual increase. The Central Bank of Russia has raised its inflation forecast for 2025 to a range of 7.0% to 8.0%, marking a significant increase from its previous estimate of 4.5% to 5.0%. Consumer price growth in Russia has reached noticeable levels, with an inflation rate of 9.52% in 2024 compared to 7.42% in 2023, making it the fourth highest rate in the last 15 years. The Central Bank is expected to maintain the policy rate at 21% during its next interest rate decision on March 21, 2025.
