IOC and Comcast NBC Establish Digital Age Partnership Until 2036

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Comcast NBCUniversal have forged a new strategic partnership for the digital age, capitalizing on the opportunities presented by the evolving media landscape and the unique expertise of the global media and technology company. Approved by the IOC Board yesterday, the agreement, which begins in 2025, encompasses all media rights for the Olympic Games in the U.S. until 2036, along with new strategic initiatives and projects. This partnership transforms the existing relationship between the IOC and Comcast NBCUniversal from a media rights holder to a strategic ally.

The extension of media rights covering the 2033-2036 period, which includes the Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 Winter Olympics and the yet-to-be-determined 2036 Olympic Games, is valued at $3 billion. This significant investment contributes to the long-term financial stability of the Olympic Movement, with the IOC distributing 90% of its revenue to support athletes and sports organizations globally. The new partnership promises additional value by leveraging Comcast's technological infrastructure and expertise, enhancing the presentation of the Olympic Games.
