According to TÜRK-İŞ's study, in March, the poverty line rose to 76,922 TL, while the hunger threshold increased to 23,615 TL. The report indicated that food prices saw a monthly increase of 1.25% and an annual rise of 40.62%. It stated, "For most wage earners in our country, the possibility of living with dignity is unattainable. The net minimum wage set by employers and government representatives, which the worker segment did not agree with, is 22,104.67 TL, while the living cost for a single worker is calculated to be 30,617.43 TL this month. The gap is 8,512 TL, and the inadequacy of the minimum wage is universally acknowledged."
The TÜRK-İŞ Confederation conducts regular monthly research to reveal the living conditions of workers and the impact of price changes in basic necessities on family budgets. As of March 2025, the monthly food expenditure necessary for a healthy, balanced, and sufficient diet for a four-person family in Ankara is 23,615.12 TL (hunger line), while the total necessary monthly expenses, including food, clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, and health, amount to 76,922.23 TL (poverty line). Additionally, the living cost for a single worker has also risen to 30,617.43 TL. According to TÜRK-İŞ data, the changes in "kitchen inflation" by March 2025 show that the minimum expenditure for food for a four-person family increased by 1.25% compared to the previous month, with a total increase of 12.00% for the first three months of 2025 and an annual change rate of 40.62%, reflecting an average annual increase of 54.87%.
